ST. JAMES SCHOOL
Hello! My name is Jennifer Scanlon-Smith, and as principal of St. James Catholic School, I’d like to welcome you and thank you for taking time to learn more about our school. I feel blessed to be the principal of St. James School and I look forward to continuing its longstanding tradition of excellence. Our school has been educating children in the Catholic tradition since the school year 1955-1956.
St. James Catholic School provides children in preschool through grade 8 with a Catholic education aimed at empowering children to achieve their full academic and Christian potential, by becoming prayerful, lifelong learners and good stewards of God’s gifts.
As a fully accredited Diocesan School, we are committed to delivering academic excellence in family classroom environments, plus we have exciting opportunities beyond the classroom through which students can learn and grow as scholars and individuals throughout their years. We recognize and celebrate the diverse learning styles, interests, talents, and cultures of our students and strive to offer a rich variety of meaningful learning experiences that will inspire innovative thinkers and confident learners.
Our mission is to provide academic excellence through a Christ-centered curriculum in a preschool through eighth grade school while believing that each child is a unique creation of God. St. James students have a variety of opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities such as scouts, sports, service projects, Mad Science club, chess, electives, choir and student ambassadors. As each student moves through our programs, we will support his/her effort to become a responsible decision-maker and a good citizen of our school and of our community. St. James Catholic School cultivates respect for self and others.
In addition, St. James Catholic School has a dedicated and experienced staff, an active PTO and School Advisory Committee, and a deep partnership with caring and committed families. Parental involvement is prevalent and welcome in our school.
We’d love to introduce you to our school community. Here at St. James Catholic School, We Are Growing Together; Faith, Family and Friends. The lessons learned here, both in-and-out of the classroom, prepare each child for service to the local and global community.
